Just found out that the word "bagpipes" in French is CORNEMUSE! Anyway, bagpipes have been shouting obnoxiously close to my apartment in recent Breton, military, and gay pride events, sure do hate the sound of them!
I bought the antique post cards from a flea market thing I stumbled upon after going to the usual food market on a Sunday a few weeks ago. I wanted to buy so much more than I did, but I managed to come away with a hat, earrings, vintage sunglasses, 3 small posters, and these post cards. Among some other things (like the red straw hat), I'm going to send the post cards to my mom for Mother's Day. It will be late, but closer to the French Mother's Day which is June 7.

This one just has an unidentifiable, loopy scribble addressed to Mademoiselle P.Joeury

I think this is Saint Marie's day. Everyday of the calendar has a saint's name to go with it, and the French still recognize their saint's day even though they are now all atheists. On the front it says, "We tuck her in with a story" and on the back it says "Dear Marie, On this day of your holiday we offer you our best wishes and hope for your happiness and that all your desires will be fulfilled. Rene joins us in wishing you a good and happy holiday. Receive, dear Marie our most affectionate kisses" signed Odette and Jane

carte postale

I'm guessing it's for May Day. This one just says "Happy Holidays" Pierre, Eugenie, Madeleine

It's an April Fool's Day card. In France they have a traditional prank of sticking a paper fish on the back of someone, hence the fish. Written on the back it says "Guess who sent this, you will know who can't forget you."

Bored with fashion, not impressed by prairie or sailor. Miss my usual thrift stores.
